Engineering Program Manager
Ultramet, a small business and established leader in the use of advanced materials in the aerospace and defense industries, is seeking candidates to support current and future research programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing research proposals; managing resulting programs with respect to schedule, budget, and technical objectives; and marketing the technology at trade shows and conferences.
Essential job functions:
- Writing proposals to secure funding from government agencies and outside firms for research and development, or from Ultramet for internal research and development.
- Championing new ideas for cutting-edge technologies.
- Managing multiple programs simultaneously.
- Managing the technical efforts of programs using sound engineering principles, creativity, and outside-the-box thinking to achieve the technical objectives.
- Managing the schedules and budgets of programs to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Working with other departments to achieve the goals of the programs.
- Performing data analyses to support research, development, and production programs as needed.
- Providing technical support to other programs at Ultramet.
- Making presentations and marketing Ultramet technologies at conferences, trade shows, and customer facilities.
- Writing and presenting papers at conferences and trade shows.
- Writing progress reports, final reports, closeout briefings, etc.
Requirements:
- S., M.S., or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, aeronautical engineering, materials science, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of industrial experience working with advanced materials.
- A proven track record in running research programs, proposal writing, and/or program management.
- Experience with finite element modeling using either COMSOL or ANSYS
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Ability to travel to conferences and trade shows two or more times per year.
- Experience with materials for extreme environments and their application in areas such as hypersonics, rocket propulsion, turbine engines, and nuclear power is a plus.
- Experience with chemical vapor deposition of structural materials is a plus.
- S. citizenship is required.
